Our History

Fifteen years of building New York's most trusted luxury real estate practice — one extraordinary transaction at a time.

A Firm Built on Principle

Blue Horizon Realty was founded in the depths of the 2008 financial crisis — a moment when the real estate industry had lost the public's trust. Our founders believed a different kind of firm was possible.

2009
Founded at 1 Vanderbilt

Catherine Moore and William Chase founded Blue Horizon Realty with two advisors, three listings, and a firm conviction that luxury real estate clients deserved more than what the market was offering. The firm's first transaction — a $4.2M Sutton Place townhouse — closed 11 days after listing, 8% above ask.

2011
First $20M Transaction

BHR closed its first ultra-luxury transaction — a $21.5M penthouse at 15 Central Park West — establishing the firm's reputation in the highest tier of Manhattan's residential market. The Wall Street Journal featured the deal as among the year's most significant residential transactions.

2013
Brooklyn Expansion

Recognising Brooklyn's ascendancy years before most competitors, BHR opened its Brooklyn Heights office and assembled a dedicated borough team. Within 18 months, BHR had become the leading luxury residential broker in Brooklyn Heights, Cobble Hill, and Carroll Gardens.

2015
Hamptons Division Launch

The acquisition of boutique Hamptons firm Palmer & Shore brought James Pemberton and his 22-year network of Hamptons relationships into the BHR family. The Hamptons division closed $280M in transactions in its first full year of operation.

2017
$1 Billion Milestone

Blue Horizon Realty crossed $1 billion in cumulative sales volume — a milestone achieved in just eight years. The firm celebrated with a commitment to the BHR Foundation, dedicating 1% of all commission revenue to affordable housing initiatives across New York State.

2019
Commercial Division Established

Marcus Delano joined as Director of Commercial Real Estate, bringing BHR into Manhattan's institutional office and retail investment market. The commercial division generated $340M in transactions in its first three years, establishing BHR as a true full-service real estate firm.

2021
Hudson Valley & Upstate Expansion

The COVID-driven acceleration of upstate migration created a historic opportunity. BHR established its Hudson Valley and Upstate division, capturing extraordinary demand for country homes, estate properties, and lakefront retreats from Manhattan buyers seeking more space and a different pace.

2023
$5 Billion in Cumulative Sales

BHR crossed the $5 billion cumulative sales milestone and was recognised as New York's #1 independent luxury real estate firm by volume. The firm expanded to 48 advisors and moved into its purpose-built headquarters at 1 Vanderbilt Avenue in Midtown Manhattan.

Today
$8.4B and Growing

With over $8.4 billion in total transaction volume and a team of 48 extraordinary advisors, Blue Horizon Realty continues to set the standard for luxury real estate practice in New York State. The next chapter is just beginning.
